Adjacent to Mansfield Woodhouse Railway Station, this construction of commercial starter units was developed on a narrow and difficult site. The contract provided 6 new office units with major improvements to the landscaping to radically improve a disused area of land next to the train station. Due to its location, we had to liaise closely with Network Rail.
The steel frame and steel clad building was fully fitted out with M&E and internal finishings, on a sloping site with gabion walls (given BREEAM Excellent). The sloping site incorporated major retaining walls, new fencing, flood alleviation measures and a new footpath with scope for future development.
We entered into a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) after value engineering the project, which reassured the client. As this was a GMP contract, there were no additional outturn costs to the agreed contract sum.
Mansfield LABC submitted the Project for an award for small businesses in the Mansfield area. The Development was a finalist in the Best small Commercial Building of the 2013 East Midland Building Excellence Awards.
